What does it do?
================
When you drop a book in Morrowind, it lies on it's side with the bottom facing towards you. If, like me, you have a large collection of books then they will look very messy when stacked in this manner.

This plugin adds scripting to every book in the game. It allows you to place books vertically and horizontally wherever you please. It also allows you to close the open books in the game and place them with the rest of your collection.

It works like this:

For closed books:
The first time you drop a book it stands vertically with the spine facing towards you.
The second time it lies horizontally, face up, with the spine towards you.
The third time it lies in the default position as it would without the mod.
It then repeats the above sequence.

For open books:
The first time you drop a book it lies back at an angle of 20, allowing you to place it on a lectern.
The second time it closes and lies horizontally, face up, with the spine towards you.
The third time it stands vertically with the spine facing towards you.
The fourth time it lies in the default position as it would without the mod.

There is also a fixed world grid for the books. This allows books to be placed together neatly. When you place a book vertically near another, it automatically aligns a fixed distance away. This gap between books is dictated by a global variable which can be easily altered to give a smaller or larger gap.

Bugs & Limitations
==================
In some cases, users have reported that the mod is not working correctly and some books are not rotating.

This problem related to using the mod with previously saved games. It occurs with books that teach you a skill.

Once you read a book, a reference to that fact is stored in your save. This is so that if you read the book again you will not get another skill increase.

Unfortunately, when this information is stored, the game not only saves the fact that you have had a skill increase; it saves other additional information about that book - which includes whether or not any scripts are attached to the book at that point.

If you read a book and learn a skill before installing the Book Rotate mod, the game stores that fact and also stores the fact that, at that point, there is no script attached to the book. This information takes precedence over all other. When you install the mod and load up your save, the game looks at the save and thinks "OK - this book has been read so this skill has been learnt and there are no scripts attached to the book". No matter if the mod may be telling it otherwise, the game will choose to take the information from the save. Hence, the rotation will not work.

There is a way to overcome this problem. However, it involves editing your save game. Included in the zip is TESAME - The Elder Scrolls Advanced Mod Editor and detailed instructions on how to use it to edit your save. Please read EditYourSave.txt for more information on getting those pesky books rotating :o)

There is a particular bug which may also occur. It only occurs when you enable the mod for the first time and you are loading a previously saved game. If, in this save, you have any books in your inventory; when you try to drop a book, the game may crash.

I think this is again related to the way Morrowind stores information in the save game. To overcome this problem if it applies to you, follow the steps below:

1 - Disable the 'Book Rotate' mod in the Morrowind Launcher

2 - Load your save.

3 - Remove all books from your inventory.

4 - Save the game and exit.

5 - Enable the 'Book Rotate' mod again.

6 - Load this most recent save.

7 - Save the game.

This last save should be free of the problem.

There are some limitations with the fixed world grid. They occur due to the size difference between the large and small books. All the smaller books can align together and the larger books can also align together. However, for large books to align with small books they must be placed together in pairs. In this way, all sizes of books can be placed together.

If you are currently using the Typo Fix mod then you must continue to use it as only book typo fixes are included in this plugin.
The Typo Fix mod and this one will cause conflicts as they both include changes to books. When two plugins conflict, the information in the plugin with the latest file date overwrites the changes made by the older one.
If you are using both plugins, make sure Book Rotate has a newer file date than Typo Fix. If it does not, some books will not rotate. To give it a newer file date, open it in the Construction Set and save it again. This will make it the newer plugin and it's information will take precedence over Typo Fix. This will not matter because Book Rotate has all the typo fixes included in it.
